Inspection and Maintenance

Proper training and thorough inspections are critical to safe SRL use. Our inspection process includes:

  • Webbing: Bent into a “U” shape to check for cuts, fraying, or wear

  • D-Rings: Checked for free movement, cracks, deformation, or corrosion

  • Back Pads: Inspected for cracks, sharp edges, or rough spots

  • Buckles & Grommets: Verified for damage-free performance and intact grommets

  • Straps & Components: Examined for stretching, breaks, or dirt buildup

 

Inspection Frequency:

  • Before Each Use: Quick 5-minute visual check

  • Every 6 Months: Competent Person inspection, as required by OSHA

Lifespan and Replacement Guidelines

Fall protection equipment does not carry a fixed expiration date. Instead, service life depends on wear, usage, and environmental exposure. With proper storage and care, harnesses and SRLs may last up to five years. However:

  • Any equipment involved in a fall event must be removed from service immediately

  • Energy-absorbing lanyards and lifelines are not reusable after a fall
